5.Reason for occurrence:
The Company has received an official notification from the Japan Patent Office (JPO) stating that its invention patent application titled “Manufacturing Method of Artificial Dressing (Method for Manufacturing Artificial Dressing)” (Application No.: Japanese Patent Application No. 2024-153333) has successfully completed substantive examination conducted by the JPO examiner, with no grounds for rejection identified. A decision to grant the patent (Notice of Allowance) was issued on April 15, 2026 (ROC calendar year 115).
The Company has engaged Jih-He Patent & Trademark Office to handle relevant procedures and will complete the patent registration process within the statutory deadline (May 21, 2026). Upon grant, the patent will take effect from the date of publication in accordance with the Japanese Patent Act, and the Company will obtain full patent rights in Japan.
6.Countermeasures:
The Company will complete the patent registration procedures within the statutory period. After obtaining formal patent rights, it will continue to evaluate the commercialization progress in the Japanese medical device market. In addition, subject to the positive examination result in Japan, the Company will assess the possibility of filing accelerated examination applications under the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) program in the United States, as well as applying for accelerated examination with the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office, in order to expand the geographical scope of intellectual property protection.
7.Other material information:
A. The patent is an invention patent covering a porous artificial dressing manufactured using gelatin as a base material, combined with specific concentrations of surfactants and cross-linking agents, and produced through processes including mixing foaming, molding, and freeze-drying. Its applications include burn injuries, surgical wounds, acute trauma, pressure ulcers, and chronic wounds.
B. The International Patent Classification (IPC) of this invention includes A61L 15 (medical dressing materials) and A61F 13 (absorbent sanitary products), belonging to the field of Advanced Wound Care technology.
