AMS BioteQ Showcases SeepPlug™ at Taiwan Smart Agriweek 2026

Improving Seedling Cultivation Through Root Zone Management

A growing medium must balance water, air, and the environment in which roots grow. Excessive water retention can reduce root zone aeration, while overly rapid drainage may increase irrigation frequency. For nurseries, consistent water absorption and drying conditions across batches and individual cells are also important for subsequent cultivation management. SeepPlug™ incorporates PoroVance™ pore engineering technology developed by AMS BioteQ. By controlling water absorption and air exchange through the material’s pore structure, it provides a more stable root zone environment.

The exhibition will feature SeepPlug™ plug trays in various sizes alongside actual plants. Visitors will be able to remove plants from the trays to observe their root balls and see how roots develop within the growing medium. Trial data from Taiwan, Japan, and Vietnam will also be presented, covering applications in Phalaenopsis orchids, melons, and hydroponic leafy vegetables. Growers interested in orchid, fruit, or vegetable seedling cultivation, as well as those evaluating automated irrigation and nursery standardization, are welcome to discuss their specific needs with the AMS BioteQ team at the exhibition.

From Growing Medium to Everyday Life: SeepPlug™ Introduces the “Sprouting Lucky Cat”

In addition to its professional cultivation applications, SeepPlug™ will debut its lifestyle product, the “Sprouting Lucky Cat,” at this exhibition.

Rather than filling a decorative planter with potting soil, the Sprouting Lucky Cat is formed directly from SeepPlug™ growing medium. After water is added, seeds germinate on the surface, with sprouts typically appearing in about one week, depending on growing conditions and care. No additional planter or potting soil is required, and there is no need for repotting. Users simply add water according to the plant’s needs and enjoy watching the seeds germinate and grow. AMS BioteQ developed this product to give consumers more opportunities to directly experience a growing medium traditionally used primarily in nurseries and greenhouses.

For most consumers, growing medium is an often-overlooked component of a potted plant. By transforming it into a ready-to-grow decorative product, the processes of water absorption, water retention, germination, and root development can be observed in everyday settings. The Sprouting Lucky Cat also introduces a new application for SeepPlug™ beyond professional cultivation, making it suitable for home gardening, office desks, or as a gift.

See the Growing Medium and Roots Up Close

At this year’s Taiwan Smart Agriweek, AMS BioteQ aims to give visitors a firsthand look at how SeepPlug™ performs in actual cultivation. In addition to the material itself, the plants, root balls, and trial data from different regions will provide nursery growers with more practical references. Visitors with specific requirements regarding crops, tray sizes, irrigation methods, or nursery processes are welcome to discuss them with the team during the exhibition.

The “Sprouting Lucky Cat” offers another way to experience SeepPlug™, allowing visitors without an agricultural background to explore the relationship between growing medium and plants through a simple growing experience.
