In pursuit of academic exchange, promoting industry-academia collaboration, and fostering talent development, the School of Pharmacy at Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) and AMS BioteQ recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to enhance industry-academia exchange, promote the development of the domestic biopharmaceutical industry, and lay the foundation for pharmaceutical research talent cultivation. AMS BioteQ will prioritize providing internship opportunities and scholarships for master's and doctoral students from the School of Pharmacy at KMU. The signing ceremony was attended by Dean Yang Shi-Chun of the School of Pharmacy at KMU, representing AMS BioteQ Chairman Dr. Tsai. Legislator Hsu Chih-Chieh, Dr. Yang, Vice Manager of Research and Development at AMS BioteQ, and Professor Tsai Hsiu-Fen of KMU were also present as witnesses.

The School of Pharmacy at KMU aims to cultivate professional talents with practical abilities and research innovation. They strive to cultivate outstanding talents in fields such as pharmacy, biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering, clinical pharmacy, and management. AMS BioteQ, on the other hand, is an aspiring pharmaceutical and biotechnology company with the ambition to unite medicine, technology, and talent to combat emerging viruses. The collaboration between the two parties aims to promote industry-academia cooperation and cultivate the next generation of pharmaceutical and biotech-related high-level talents in Taiwan.

Regarding the signing of the industry-academia collaboration MOU, Dean Yang Shi-Chun of the School of Pharmacy at KMU stated that the university recognizes the importance of corporate internships in enabling students to understand job requirements, engage in practical operations, experience the workplace atmosphere, and interact with frontline workers. Such experiences are beneficial for future career planning and help students strengthen the professional skills required in the industry. Moreover, as students have already received comprehensive knowledge training within the university, internships in companies allow them to quickly adapt to practical work and provide suggestions for curriculum design, leading to a win-win situation for both the university and the industry.

Chairman Dr. Tsai of AMS BioteQ expressed that AMS, as a startup in Taiwan's biotechnology and medical industry, not only fights against emerging viruses and solves various infectious diseases through innovative research and development but also hopes to cooperate with the School of Pharmacy at KMU to cultivate new forces for drug development and biomedical research. AMS BioteQ looks forward to future cooperation plans that can retain outstanding students in southern Taiwan for employment, contribute to what they have learned, and focus on improving the overall biotechnology research and development process optimization.

Chairman Dr. Tsai emphasized that to succeed in the biotechnology industry, it is essential to devote full efforts to innovative drug research and development and the recruitment of high-level scientific talents. Only then can the entire research and development process be rapidly promoted. This cooperation with KMU aims to strengthen the connection between academia and industry by combining the resources of both parties, and it is hoped that a database of talents in the pharmaceutical research industry can be built in the future.

KMU encourages students to engage in diverse learning and adaptive development and actively promotes industry-academia linkage and expands internship opportunities to provide a broader platform for future employment. Coupled with AMS BioteQ's acquisition of the ticket to the precision health industry in southern Taiwan, AMS BioteQ plans to establish a 1,600-square-meter research and development center in the future, deeply cultivating in Kaohsiung and creating an innovative biomedical incubator for young scientists in the southern region. AMS BioteQ looks forward to further exchanges with students and faculty at KMU, thereby bridging the gap between talent education and employment, cultivating more professionals with innovative and practical abilities, and creating another stronghold for Taiwan's biotechnology development.
